A Look Back in Time… The history of All About Time Clock Repair
Too much time on his hands — Frank’s love for clocks first became evident when he started tinkering with timepieces at about the age of seven (not really repairing them, mind you —just taking them apart and not putting them back together!)
Despite parental admonishment not to destroy the family clocks, Frank’s interest continued to grow and he began his apprenticeship in clock repair under a master watchmaker/clockmaker at age sixteen. Simultaneously, he attended night classes in small appliance repair at a local college, and received his certification in that trade in 1972. By nineteen, he was operating his own small clock and appliance repair shop (appropriately named “Clock & Appliance Clinic”) as a concession within his father’s jewelry store. That was in 1973. Interestingly, this unique enterprise was located in exactly the same site as All About Time Clock Repair is presently.
A little “Time” in the California Sun — In 1976, Frank was commissioned by a small clock store in Glendale, California to develop and manage their service department. Toolbox in hand, Frank and his brand new bride, Gloria, made the move. Within four years, the small family owned store became one of the largest and fastest growing clock retailer/service center chains in California. It was during his position as service manager for that firm that Frank acquired new skills in tower and street clock repair.
Back to the Valley — With his commission in California complete, Frank, Gloria and their new baby girl, Michelle, moved back home to Phoenix in 1980, and promptly opened All About Time. Within one year of starting out as a small repair shop All About Time quickly grew to become one of Phoenix’s leading retail, brand-name clock dealerships.
Although the majority of Frank’s customers came directly into the shop with their treasured timepieces, making house calls on grandfather clocks and larger wall clocks was a huge part of his business. Frank’s quality of workmanship and commitment to customer service earned him an excellent reputation with major Phoenix area furniture stores. Big Tin Shed, Levitz, Reliable, Robbins and Freed’s Fine Furnishings were a few of the firms who contracted with All About Time to deliver, set up, and service clocks for their own customers.
Around 1992, All About Time discontinued sales to focus more on the ever-growing repair and service aspect of the business. In 1994, the slight name change to All About Time Clock Repair, clarified the company focus on clock repair, restoration and service.
Today, with over 50 years of experience, Frank continues to provide unsurpassed quality clock repair to his customers all over Arizona. He would love for you to become one of his customers and invites you to stop by the shop or call him at: 602-864-3807.
And, yes…. Frank eventually put back together the family clocks he took apart as a kid and Mom & Dad were very happy!
